I am OBSESSED with these earrings! I had these stones VERY SPECIAL custom cut because I saw a pair of these snowflake cut tanzanites my AMAZING gem cutter made for another client on the other side of the world and it was love at first sight. So I asked him to make us some too (there is also a matching pendant if desired.) Cutting gemstones like this in the shape of a snowflake is a very difficult task and requires an immense amount of skill and precision. It took 9 months to complete these perfect ones, as so many of the previous ones didn't make the cut--yes, pun. I LOVE tanzanite. The color is stunning and it is so underrated in the gemstone world. It was discovered in Tanzania in 1967 near Mount Kilimanjaro and is known as the modern December birthstone. It was introduced into the market by Tiffany & Co. at that time and it is still picking up a lot of steam as it is a rare, blue violet color that has a distinctive pleochroism showing different colors of blue, violet, and purple. I love a December birstone cut into a snowflake, could it be any better? Tanzanite represents transformation, intuition, and spiritual awakening. It is also a representation of the 24th Anniversary.
